Late Hazy Day

posted Tuesday, 1 July 2008

There were big thunderstorms this morning, and lightning nearby.

The lifts didn't turn until eight a.m., our normal start time is six thirty.

The skies are hazy from the fires in California, which helps to cause
an inversion in the valleys.  This creates higher temps on the mountain,
while keeping the valleys a bit cooler.

It was hot on the snow, today.

I was going to get up early and head for Trillium Lake for sunrise
reflections pictures of Mt. Hood.

The smoke haze makes that impossible.

Dammit.

This next shot is from the bottom of the Palmer Chairlift,
looking up to the Palmer snowfield.
The haze is visible in the background.

It was a beautiful day, good thing I rarely forget my sunscreen.

been up both those lifts....been a while, but the one (second one) takes you to a sick spot where if u get off to the right, there is a natural halfpipe (i think, that should be the one) and its sick in the freshies, its like twenty feet high windlips, and (toe edge wall, mainly) its where i brought the cabby ice ledge grinding out to the west.

I knew that, Hobbs. I also know the coach you had from Windells. He remembers your coat getting ganked in Portland.

Although he probably doesn't remember the 5 day hangover you had from your 21st birthday party, just before you came out. HA!
